Solid comedy that will stand the test of time. Crowe beautiful script and director are future actions by Penn, Leigh, Cates Walston and convert it into a non-stop laugh riot. Walston also starred in the short-lived television series based on the film.
I saw this Fast Times at Ridgemont High Drama movie when he first arrived in 1982. I was in my early twenties at the time to "understand" things in this Fast Times at Ridgemont High Drama film (essentially stereotypes). I liked the Fast Times at Ridgemont High Drama and then the only reason I would suggest that anyone I see now is que'80 's nostalgia. I always thought it was an empty DVD film Fast Times at Ridgemont High intends to be funny, not so, and trying to have some kind of message. It is nothing but a cheap, Trashy, BAD bad taste (as opposed to sound bad, that I like) child exploitation movie: Fast Times at Ridgemont High disguised as something special. Since one's reputation might think this is a work of brilliance. The characters were shallow and boring and I could never see how people love to ridicule both outside stoned surfer character. Now ... if this Fast Times at Ridgemont High movie had not taken seriously, or perhaps has been written as a satire or putting in high school, or even movies young teen and pop culture in general, towards 1982, as the brilliant "Lord Love a Duck" made in 1966, most likely would have been much better or even something really big. In my opinion, if you want to see something aimed at teenagers that is much higher, see "Heathers" and finally "Rock'n'Roll High School" or even "Ferris Bueller's Day Off."
This film: Fast Times at Ridgemont High really brings me back. Much of it rang so true, though my high school in Texas in the mid-aƱos'70 's. The base seems to be that these children face too many pressures from adults trying to grow too fast. I was that way, too. Although I did not realize at the time, it is a wonderful time to grow. The war was over, as was the draft. It was a great moment for sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll. That was before the two scourges of AIDS and crack that turned society away from personal freedoms (more or less) that he earned before. The Fast Times at Ridgemont High Drama is quite funny, but also in sauces and not nervous territory. It was great seeing all these talented and (now) famous actors at the dawn of his career. Enough has been said about Penn. There was Anthony Edwards with hair! Judge Reinhold would be the best. Ray Walston as Mr. was perfect, very touching in light of his recent death. Best of all, however, were the girls. Jennifer Jason Leigh was awesome. Her sweet, young, innocent look was perfect for Stacy. (It is a great naked, too!) And Pheobe Cates. She was, indeed still is, so beautiful. And her red bikini at the scene of the fantasy Brad live forever. She has more than beauty, however, tons of charm and sweetness. I am sure that most everybody has seen this movie. It is the quintessential high school DVD movie Fast Times at Ridgemont High of the time.
Along with "Porky's" "First of all sometimes ..." is one of the stupid comments on American teenagers full of hormones. It is more politically incorrect that today the majority of teenage comedies (such as "Road Trip" or "American Pie", unless it was made 24 years ago. A good soundtrack full of rock 80's MTV and loads of hilarious sequences (most of them by Sean Penn and his surfer character dumb). We also have Jennifer Jason Leigh in one of his first major roles. + My kind: 7 / 10 --------------------------------------------
This DVD film Fast Times at Ridgemont High is one of my favorites of all time 80. All kinds of stars in this one. Fully represent the high school teens to early 80s Fur Shure! Lots of comedy - some drama - a lot of sex. Sean Penn as the surfer dude Stoner is the funniest role of his career. Phoebe Cates has just become a star known. Jennifer Jason Leigh totally turn is seen as a virgin teenager and you can also see Nancy Wilson (guitarist of the band Heart) in his tiny cameo role. Love this early 80's that classic.Own it.Learn. Living ...
