'Unstable Fables: Tortoise Vs. Hare', the second film in the Jim Henson Company's 'Unstable Fables' series. The film puts a modern twist on the classic Tortoise and the Hare story with help from a voice cast that includes Jay Leno, Danny Glover, Vivica A. Fox, Keke Palmer and Drake Bell. The movie fast-forwards 15 years beyond the original fabled race to reveal that the rivalry between the tortoise and the hare. Ready for a rematch, Murray Hare (Jay Leno) and his unwilling son Butch (Drake Bell) challenge Walter Tortoise (Danny Glover) and his daughter Crystal (Keke Palmer) to face off in the Mount Impossible Nature Adventure Race. However this time they learn a whole new lesson - that some things are more important than competition.

A cartoon in 3D provides more than just a graphically different perspective on a known, or at least little-known and widely recognized, fable. Unfortunately for my taste, is not volatile in the way Happy Tree Friends and South Park. It is more along the lines of Monsters, Inc. A story for children with sufficient complexity and issues in adult tissues that parents are happy to see that with 8 years of age and 13 years old did not complain who were forced to come. And you get some amazing 3D animation that rivals that of the type seen in computer games for their ability to feel the depth and dimension and to attract more than the standard films are capable of doing.

The graphics and voices are welcome. Danny Glover did a good job of a "slow" turtle drawl. Jay Leno is recognizable in the hare, of course. The story ends ... blah. I found myself really ready to fall asleep after the first 25 minutes. Must have been fun. There is humor in it, but not enough. It is only if it shows what happens during the race, and it was not exciting or interesting. Probably the funniest characters in the DVD film Unstable Fables: Tortoise vs. Hare are the two wives (Vivica A. Fox was the wife of turtle). I'm giving it a 6, 10. Not terrible, but well worth seeing. Maybe the children really enjoy it ..?
